Role Purpose

To ensure that the equipment spread is operated and maintained in an efficient, organised and controlled manner, and in accordance with the manufacturers operating manuals and the Company’s procedures.

To ensure the equipment achieves its highest level of performance throughout operations in accordance with the Client’s requirements, whilst at all times maintaining safe working practices and a high level of safety awareness.

To carry out engineering duties within Asset Department and support the Equipment Superintendent

Key Areas of Responsibility

• To conduct activities in accordance with the HSE Management System requirements and to meet all legal obligations incorporated in the HSE Management system, specifically to meet those responsibilities defined within procedure CORP/H&S/P/SP1.1 – HSE Roles and Responsibilities.
• Ensure that all practical measures are taken with the equipment spread and by client personnel to prevent pollution and damage to the environment.
• Supervise and operate all types of equipment to include but not be limited to drum engines, D.O.H.B engines, linear cable engines and plough / launch and recovery winches / 'A' frames, in a broad range of operational situations.
• Assist the Equipment Superintendent in the following
o Ensuring that the equipment team members are familiarised with and are experienced in their designated operating and maintenance roles and familiar with the relevant operating procedures.
o To pursue technical enquiries with operations and outside suppliers.
o Assist in ensuring that the system spares inventory is kept up to date and to maintain appropriate spares levels.
o Ensure that full and accurate operational records are kept and that the relevant reports, data and returns are submitted to appropriate departments in the Company in accordance with the prescribed schedule.
• Conduct toolbox talks that include the required elements of safety and conduct workplace inspections and valuations
• Ensure adequate support is given to personnel aiming to progress through the Competency Scheme.

Key Measures

• To maintain 95% reliability and utilisation of equipment.
• To ensure safe and competent maintenance of submersible.
• Equipment to be kept ready and able for any project in agreed time frame
• To ensure AMOS is constantly updated and all maintenance complete and updated.
• To liaise with procurement, assets and other departments to maintain levels of critical spares held onboard

Key Tasks

• Assist the Equipment Superintendent in maintaining a close liaison with the Offshore Manager to communicate relevant equipment readiness.
• Assist the Equipment Superintendent with planning operations and in the absence of the Equipment Superintendent, be responsible for the safe launch and recovery of the equipment within the defined weather and operational restrictions.
• In the absence of the Equipment Superintendent, determine the working criteria for each operation in conjunction with the Offshore Manager or Shift Supervisor and be responsible for the ultimate decision to launch or recover the equipment, unless the vessels safety is compromised where the Master has overriding control.
• Be familiar with the terms of the project agreement or the particular contract agreed at the time and also within the stated insurance warranty.
• Assist in the co-ordination of planned maintenance, repair or refurbishment of the equipment onboard, ensuring it is running efficiently in a fully operational condition.
• Supervise the launch and recovery of the equipment in accordance with the operating procedures and within the stated range of sea states.
• Work or assist in areas other than own department as and when required, providing it does not compromise the operational capabilities of the equipment

Qualifications/Demonstrable experience

• Offshore Experience
• Technical background, qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent)
